Erasure's comeback
Patrick Smith | 02/22/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"After the somewhat subdued _Erasure_ which has taken years to grow on me, this album is a refreshing return to greatness. Full of upbeat music and wonderful imagery, this is one of their finest collections, especially in these later years. While the pair is definitely exploring their artism, this album definitely ranks up there with _Two-Ring Circus_, _I Say I Say I Say_, and _The Innocents_. Lyrics like

"Worlds on fire, full of pain and endless fear, don't you know you have the key, love sets you free,"

"Your colours are magnificent, from magenta to bright blue"

"My world in light saving all as one,

I dream of trees and roads

I roam across the hills,"

and

"The sky is big, the deepest blue,

The clouds like smoky trains

A love that no one can deny."

make this one of Erasure's most soulful and inspired albums. If you don't have it, you're not a true fan!

The BEST
R. Madlem | Atlanta, GA USA | 07/09/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"In retrospect repurchasing this CD has found a new appreciation in my collection. This is truly one of the most consistent Erasure CD's ever. Andy's voice is full, front and center. With the talent he is blessed with it should never be hidden nor buried in the background as on some other Erasure CD's. The songs are catchy, the lyrics moving and the music, some of Vincent's most "pop" arrangements. I sit back and await the next full length Erasure CD. The Union Street CD is great for fans and a nice break from the usual bleeps and drum machines. Just a future note boys, we need something we can move too!"
