CD Reviews

Eowyn heading in the right direction

"This one is good kids. Eowyn's first CD Shattered Illusions was a good first try. But the style was a little bit to much country with an edgie rock accent, and fell a little bit short of my expectations. Eowyn came back with a second CD and came back good. I thought she had it in her and she certianly does. Identity is a hard rocking project and takes over where Evanescense left off after they told us {Christians] to take a hike. To bad for them. Identity has the vocals guitars drums and sound that is simillar to Fallen but not a copycat and does that style of music justice. This one is a should buy, and keep in the collection for shure This is a style of music, and a quality of music that is very difficult to find in the Christian music industry today.Eowyn deserves credit for this one she is totally cool"

"When i first heard about Eowyn a while back, I didnt know what to think to be honest. Her previous album Shattered Illusions was a little "ho-hum" in my opinion. I felt it didnt have the edge that the singer illustrated with her personality. For a time it kind of felt she didnt know what her style initially was. However, with this new album, it puts all of my doubts to rest. Eowyn knows what kind of artist she is and it shows in her new album. This album, abandons the play-it-safe route she took with her last album and explores a more emotional, experimental and musical approach with this album. Not to mention that its a lot harder than Shattered Illusions.

To actually be a little honest, I thought the album was alright when i first heard it. Nothing really special. But as I listened to it more, I learned that the presumptions I made were only skin deep. And this was a good sign. Because this cd has a lot more depth than at first glance, and now its one of my most listened to cds. Identity has a lot of diversity. It has slow heartfelt songs, songs with intricate melodies and guitar riffs, and it also has some harder in your face songs. My favorite song is album has definately got to be "You Saw Me". Theres something about this song that just sticks out from the rest of the album. The chorus and structure of the song itself is very well done. very catchy.

All in all, this is a very good album. the only complaint I have about this album though is that the Mastering could have been done a little bit better. For people that have good car or home systems wont get the tasty clean sounds of the highs and lows. The bass seems to blend in a little too much with parts of the music that are meant to have the impact it was intended to have. But no biggie. Still a fantastic album."
