Not having left their emotionally unstable path of heavy post-rock oaths behind, Envy has cracked open its core and stripped the sound down to its epic essence. Their constant touring has made this Japanese ensemble one of the most talented and accepted acts around. Always passionate and persistent, these three songs are even more diverse than previous classics. Simply elegant, yet still energetic, the songs wander deeply through the thick clouds of post-hardcore guitar dust and channel the remorseless pieces that lead to the dark side. Jesu mastermind, Justin K. Broadrick, freshly wrote, recorded, mixed and produced these two tracks in early 2008. Musically, they are adventurous showing more of their dub step influence and beat-oriented sound. On this new slab, he incorporates melodic twisted pop elements with downtempo heaviness. This creates a stark textured vessel intoxicated by the minimalism of cold techno drama. Jesu holds on to the feeling of eternity, still being a modern day fly machine, yet never loses a transient sight.
