"My absolute favorite angel CD comes from Norway. But relax, you don't need to understand a word of Norwegian to be blown away by the dark, guardian angel voice of Anne-Lise Berntsen. Their angel songs are old Lutheran hymns, some familiar, some long forgotten, but the performances are so powerful and so moving that their music-making transcends any creed. Every word sung, every musical phrase delivered is packed with haunting beauty and deeply felt emotion. The music sounds at once very old and very new, affectingly simple yet inexhaustibly rich. This music will make you believe in angels too."
(Skyways News - December 5, 1995)12 tracks. Packaging & liner notes entirely in Norwegian.

Engleskyts
Barbara Moore-Savidge | Virginia, USA | 01/01/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"As a lifelong (but uneducated)devotee of classical music, I was blown away when I first heard this CD on XM's Vox channel. Because I enjoy vocal music sung in an unfamiliar language (in this case, Norwegian), this fine work allows me to concentrate on pure musicality and spirit without the distraction of recognizable words. The strength, delicacy, and uncluttered clarity of Ms. Berntsen's vocal gift is magnificent. Together with Mr. Asheim's carefully constructed yet impish organ improv, Engleskyts evokes a cold but undreadful dancing Aurora joyfully enveloping the Northern sky in laughter.
