Synopsis

Album Description
In his thirty-plus year career, Engelbert Humperdinck has racked up sales in excess of 130 million records, including 64 gold and 23 platinum records. The Dance Album features six of Engelbert's greatest hits ("Release Me," "After The Lovin?," "The Last Waltz," "Quando, Quando, Quando," "A Man Without Love" and "Spanish Eyes"), along with four new original songs written by Interhit's Chris Cox, Barry Harris and Jeff Johnson ("Am I The Lover?" "Mano a Mano," "This Night," "Gotta Get Release" and "When Love Finds Your Heart"). Also featured are background vocals from well-known dance divas Abigail (recently #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart), Thea Austin (of Snap! Fame) and Shawn Christopher. A showcase for both the talents of Engelbert and Thunderpuss, The Dance Album ranges from HiNRG to Pop/Dance to Latin House to Commercial House to R&B Hip Hop. A special treat on the album is the inclusion of two Spanish dance mixes - the percolating Latin house mix of "Cuando, Cuando, Cuando" and the "Spanglish" mix of "Spanish Eyes." In the end, the one thread running through this remarkably contemporary album in the unmistakable voice of Engelbert Humperdinck which the London Times once called "the premiere voice of the century." With the release of The Dance Album, the "King of Romance" becomes the "King of Dance!"

"A friend asked me to find this CD for him, and I thought he was joking. When I got it, I gave it a spin for a laugh. It hasn't left my player since. The "Release Me/Gotta Get Release" mix alone is worth adding this to your dance collection, but with E.H.'s killer vocals, the whole thing's a blast! Love it!"

"This is a high voltage CD bursting with energy and pure fun. I had to hear it to believe it, but the dance arrangements of Engelbert's early hits really work, and the original songs are also excellent, all written by Barry Harris, Chris Cox and Jeff Johnson; all of them are melodic and of course, have a terrific beat...I especially like Johnson's "Mano a Mano", which gets reprised on track # 14 with a different mix. The "Spanglish" mix of "Spanish Eyes" as well as the Spanish mix of "Quando, Quando, Quando" are fabulous.

What really makes this CD a blast though are the phenomenal vocals, as Engelbert slides into this style like as if he was born for it. Just call him Mr. Pizzazz.

Recorded in 1998, Engelbert is 62 here, and his voice is as full of vigor and glorious timbre as it was when he first recorded these beautiful songs. He simply has one of the most magnificent voices of this or any other era, ageless and timeless, and so expressive. He writes in the liner notes: "...if you enjoy listening to this CD as much as I enjoyed making it, then you are in for a great time", and I think that enjoyment is infectious...this CD will give you the Happiness Bug. It's impossible to stay sad or lethargic while it is playing.

The sound is super (try it on earphones !) and total playing time is 56'59.

Play this marvelous CD at your next party, and everyone will want to know what the incredibly cool music is. Guaranteed.
