"Shortly after the war -in the 50ies- I saw a performance of Ella Fitzgerald together with Oscar Peterson, Gene Krupa and some other famous jazz giants in Cologne Germany. It was an unforgettable event. My spouse and I have listened since then mamny times to her but have never seen her in person again. This CD confirms my opinion again that Ella is by far the Queen of Jazz singers. The CD brings out the unique mellow and virtuoso voice with both calming and exciting effect. It also recaps the atmosphere of a large performance hall with the excitement of the artist and audience. It is one of the treasures we have of Ella Fitzgerald."

""And the Angels Sing" is worth the price of the whole CD. There weren't many white people there at the time but my father thanked me for dragging him out of the house on the way home. He enjoyed himself so much we listened to the record album every morning for months while having breakfast. That's a memory worth cherishing. Thank you, Ella!"
