Synopsis

Album Description
Stars Fill The Sky is the debut album of soprano Elizabeth Harmetz. Its 11 songs delve into the treasury of American musical theater classics. Harmetz brings her lyric qualities to songs My True Love from Phantom and Come Ready And See Me and soars with strength and emotional grandeur on So In Love from Kiss Me Kate and How Could I Ever Know, from the musical The Secret Garden. Her comedic timing is evident on Everybody Wants To Do A Musical from the musical Nick & Nora by Charles Strouse and Richard Maltby while Can't Help Lovin' That Man Of Mine and Bill from the musical Showboat are sincerely performed with a constrained sentimentality free from affectation. Other songs include Simple Little Things and Old Maid from musical 110 In The Shade by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, How Are Things In Glocca Morra, from musical Finnians Rainbow, In His Eyes, from musical Jeckyll & Hyde, Harmetz gives sincere renditions to these musical theater songs and throughout Stars Fill The Sky and the operatic soprano is recognizable through her arching classical sound, emphasis on melodic line, and diction. This album is representative of the crossover between musical theater and opera and should definitely be on the list of fans of that genre. The solo piano accompaniment by Mollye Otis. Lyrics to all songs are printed in the enclosed booklet.

A GREAT CD!

"Elizabeth's voice is pure and amazing. I would recommend this CD to anyone who loves musical theater but is sick of hearing the same "generic" sound. Elizabeth's voice brings a classical element to some of my favorite Broadway tunes. I love it! It's the perfect CD to put on when you are entertaining guests for a dinner party or even if you are just relaxing at home with a glass of wine! If you appreciate great singing, you should buy this CD!"

"Although I wasn't that familiar with the songs on this cd or this type of music in general, I found myself thoroughly delighted with Elizabeth's renditions of these musical theater classics. Her voice is smooth and melodious and her operatic style lends a unity to the cd so that no song feels out of place or disjointed. They just blend seamlessly from one to another.

This is the perfect cd to put on to impress your dinner guests and set a beautiful ambiance wherein your friends will feel relaxed and compelled to linger over one last glass of wine. It would also be a wonderful cd to listen to while taking a long bath to unwind at the end of the day or while taking a leisurely drive down the coast. Wherever you want to go, Elizabeth's lovely voice will surely take you there.
