The unknown Edith Piaf

"On the first of the two CDs you will find some of Edith Piaf's best known songs (live-recordings from the Paris Olympia as well as from Carnegie Hall), but the real surprise is the second one: she talks about her live, the way from a street singer to stardom and you are presented with extracts from rehearsals of her songs. Piaf shares her thoughts with friends and composers like Michel Rivegauche, Charles Dumont, Georges Moustaki; some of the material was recorded at her flat on Boulevard Lannes, and if you close your eyes you can imagine the scene almost as if you were with them. The only thing really needed is a good command of the french language, because Edith Piaf speakes very quickly - but even if you don't speak french, you will enjoy it all the same, Piaf catches you anyway!I can really recommend this CD-set, the listener gets a good impression of the unknown, private Edith Piaf, her wonderful sense of humor and her melodic speaking voice.
Buy this CDs, you will never regret it - but watch out: you could become a "Piaf-addict"!!"
