CD Reviews

AMAZINGLY TALENTED
James L. Woolridge | Sunny Florida | 11/26/2009

"Ok, ok, it's an older album, but I stumbled across it not long ago and more Edie Carey discs will end up in my collection. I look forward to seeing her live but with this album it is like you are with heralready. It is a live album and her banter with the audience is cool. COME CLOSE is an album to play again and again. Her voice and songs are so wonderful. Enjoy."
Like being at one of her shows

"Listening to Edie's live album feels like being at one of her shows, or even better, like she's in your home playing for you. Most of the songs are solo with acoustic guitar; Sam Shaber and Anne Heaton sing back up on a few. There are 16 music tracks in all: 2 songs from The Falling Places, 8 from Call Me Home, 4 new songs, 1 cover, and 1 bonus track. The rest of the tracks are banter. Edie's really funny, and I like that she's not afraid of looking weird. That unselfconscious spirit shines through on these tracks and in her choice of photographs and commentary. The album is also edited well. The banter tracks are short (most under 30 seconds) and the applause after songs is also short. Long enough to make you feel like you're at a live show but not long enough to be annoying. Did I mention that her vocals and guitar sound great too?"
Edie carey is SO great

"this cd is the perfect expression of edie's humor, style and amazing talent. she not only puts together beautiful lyrics and music with both new songs (with our hands, i like you[farr's song], compromise[be a poet about it], and diamond in the ruff) and old, but she has added some of her favorite on-stage moments (banter, as she calls it) inbetween songs.
"come close: the live (photo) album" is a perfect example of edie's ability to write songs that relate to us, touch us, inspire us, remind us and encourage us to see things differently while also supplying the energy of a live show, to which no experience in my life has ever come close (no pun intended) to comparing. she magnificently uses her words creatively and originally with impressive sophistication.
her other two cds, both studio releases ("the falling places" and "call me home"), are equally impressive in both style and maturity. this lady has got it figured out.
everyone i have played her for loves her. i am so proud to be able to call this woman my friend! she is amazingly wonderful in person. could it get any better? i think not. :o)
look for her upcoming studio release, "when i was made", set to be released on august 26, 2003."
