CD Reviews

I know it is not traditional blues
Bluesman | Minnesota | 09/02/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I saw Eddie at the Bayfront Blues Festival and bought both of his CD's. He is a very talented guitar player and has his own style which is not your traditional blues anymore than Chris Duarte or Jimi Hendrix are Bluesman. The songs are interesting and the approach is very different as example "So Many Roads" is not the Otis Rush version and "Tore Down" is not the Freddie King version. But did we really need another copy of them. My recommendation is to catch Eddie live and then decide if you like his music. He is smooth on stage, great solo's and good vocals. The band is good enough you can either dance to it or just sit back and watch Eddie play. I would go see him again and I will buy his next CD but I like Blues and I like Rock. Eddie is somewhere in between. Hear him live and then decide. If you are stuck in the blues, go out and buy the any Michael Burks and you won't be disappointed. Jack"
A Confident Step Past The First CD
Hank Stoner | Palmer Divide | 07/27/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Yes, I am biased. But I've also had the privilege of watching and listening to Eddie play many times since I moved to Denver 25 years ago. Last week I saw the Eddie Turner band for the first time, and not only has Eddie grown into the role of front-man and leader of his own band but his live show and this new CD are a big confident step past his first CD. The potential is there for him to become a major force in the future of the blues; Go see him NOW, his band is top-notch, and that "kid" playing drums was awesome!"

"Saw him at a bar called Rick's in Tyler Texas about six months ago. Had never heard of him but after listening to his trio I immediately bought his CD's. IF you get the chance to see him do so otherwise buy him CD's."
