EDDIE B. IS THE BOSS IN THE POLKA FIELD!!
Bill Smythe | 12/21/1998
(4 out of 5 stars)
"EDDIE HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN THE POLKA REALM OF MUSIC WITH HIS BAND "THE VERSATONES" SINCE 1963 AND HAS RECORDED OVER 50 ALBUMS TO DATE. THIS RECORDING FEATURES SOME HIS MUSIC FROM THE 1980-90'S. EDDIE'S SOUND HAS BEEN CONSISTANT SINCE IT'S BEGINNING AND THIS IS BECAUSE OF EDDIE'S PROFOUND LOVE AND KNOWLEDGE OF ALL ASPECTS OF THE MUSIC HE AND HIS GROUP PERFORMS. THIS ALBUM IS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT I MEAN. MAKE THIS AN ADDITION TO YOUR POLKA LIBRARY!!"
Superb high-energy recording!

"Eddie Blazonczyk is to Chicago what Frankie Yankovic was to Cleveland. This CD contains 20 tracks of high-energy performances, and the recording quality is top notch as well. Some of my favorites are Sugartime (a familiar tune, but not as a polka), Happy Tappy (in which the political correctness of the lyrics improves as the song proceeds), and Polka Lounges in Chicago. There is also a hauntingly beautiful waltz, White Roses. In most tunes, the measures (whether 2/4, 3/4, etc) are grouped together in twos, fours, eights, or sixteens. This one seems to alternate threes and fours, coming up with weird combinations such as seven or thirteen measures in a passage. Even if you're not counting, the effect comes through. You'll love this CD the first time you hear it. On subsequent plays, it will grow on you even more."
