Synopsis

Product Description
Echodrone's inaugural full-length release, The Sun Rose in a Different Place, expands upon the signature sound detailed in their debut release, Echodrone EP (2007). Through the nine tracks on SRDP, Echodrone mixes elements from influences as diverse as 70's legends Can, Creation-era shoegazers Slowdive, 80's NYC dancsters Liquid Liquid and this decade's Nugaze-electronic faves Engineers into a dreamy aural concoction. The Sun Rose in a Different Place showcases Echodrone's dynamic range: soundscape odes such as Sway and Drown and Gravity build shimmery layers one upon another into sweeping anthem climaxes; pedal-pop/rock tracks Pack of Wolves, Everything You Need, Seeing the Forest for the Trees, and a cover of the Car's classic, Drive, strike a pop aesthetic; while Adrift in a Metaphor, Winter Station along with ambient track Sympathetic Vibrations offer audio experimentation such as bass looping, reversed audio, and glitching for the more cerebral listener. This cd was produced by drummer and sound engineer Mark Tarlton, who notes that to be properly engulfed and pleasured, the album should be listened to as played en vivo: at full volume. Echodrone was birthed in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2005 by Eugene Suh (guitar squall/vocals) and Brandon Dudley (bass), with the current lineup taking form in 2007-2008 with the arrival of Mark Tarlton (drums/sound engineering) and Meredith Gibbons (guitar skrunk/vocals). Their debut EP was embraced as a top-seller on shoegaze site Tonevendor and was voted #2 listener favorite on Vertigo Radio in its first month of release.
