Distinctive but not in-your-face

"east of new york or east of the states? the defining sound of this little record (under license from smithsonian folkways) seems to be distinctly north-african, slowly weaving, melodic jazz. a fairly, dare i say, unambitious record revolving around two key members on sax and vibraphone, this still goes over a treat cause of its slyly disarming nature. not a record to be overthought, rather slap it on on a sunny weekend and enjoy the soothing but concious and intelligent work, while it instills subconcious urges to chew egyptian cotton.
those interested should make a note to look out for some of the other reissue work ikef has done too, they have a good ear for this sort of thing."
