CD Reviews

Wow...Spectacular album
Jason | Connecticut, United States | 01/14/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album far exceeded my expectations. I bought this album for the sole reason that David and Diane Arkenstone had composed it, and therefore it was guaranteed that the music would be worthwhile. But I didn't expect this!! The music is incerdibly rich and fast-paced, filled to the brim with percussion. The first two songs of the album astounded me with their musical power. The "Jungles of Ashimaaru" however, (Song 6) might be the crowning achievement. The music builds in complexity as time goes on, and continues to do so until it quickly winds down when a mere minute of the song remains (the song is roughly 8 min). The song completely engaged me, physically and mentally. In fact, the whole album does. I'm sure you have heard the statement, "Don't judge a book by its cover." Well, the cover of this album is not particularly elaborate. In fact, if you are not familiar with these artists, you'd probably overlook it. But the music within is astonishing."
Albums like this are why I take chances buying unknown CDs

"I am no critic, just an average listener. I heard one brief cut on an Internet radio station and was able to get the name of the group. I ordered the unknown CD, like many before and to come, on the hopes the rest of the CD would be as good. Unlike most chance CDs, the rest of the album actually was.
This CD reminded me of Allan Parson's instrumentals, John Stafords fine Deep Space CD and Larry Fast's old Synergy tunes. If you enjoy those references you should deeply appreciate this album. If you don't like those references, ignore me and get this CD anyways. I hope you find the same wonder and joy in it that I do."
