"There was no musician that could get out of a horn what Earl Bostic did with the Alto sax. Listening to this album always brings me back to a delicious part of my life, the early 50s. His arrangements of all these songs were surperb. Can't get enough of his music. If I had to pick one song, it would be
"Flamingo". It starts with a driving beat and never lets up.

Don't let the first track turn you off

"The first track on this CD appears to have come from a very scratchy disk - the sound quality is really poor. Sound quality on the rest of the CD is very good, and Earl Bostic's treatment of such standards as Where or When, Blue Moon, and Harlem Nocturne (misspelled on the liner) are just what I was looking for. Now if there were a CD with his version of Roses of Picardy on it...."
