CD Reviews

"Epic Music" indeed
Vitor Menezes | Austin, TX | 06/25/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you know E.S. Posthumus, then you have little business reading this. If you so much as think you'd like this album, go for it; it's highly unlikely you'll be disappointed.

For those who have yet to see the light, the samples represent the music well.

That said, I discovered E.S. Posthumus through Pandora, and grew to love every moment of their music. Most of my other music is stuff like the Halo soundtracks and film scores, so if you're into those, this is a sure-buy. I would describe this as "Epic Music," like the type of music I like to claim I enjoy.

Tracks range from sort of techno-y (Antissa, Tikal) to full out, powerful choral/instrumental (Harappa, Ebla). Overall, though, each track contains a variety of instruments, from strings and brass to electronic instruments; Nineveh may well be the most integrated of them all. Some are a bit "heavier" than others (Menouthis, Pompeii), and there are a few "easygoing" tracks as well (Ulaid, Isfahan, Cuzco).

All in all, if you're interested in epic-sounding music that incorporates swathes of instruments, this is the album (and artist!) for you."
