Dylan Group's Best Yet(and that's purty damn good, baby...)
KidCecil@aol.com | Richmond, VA | 01/27/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Dylan Group continue to improve and impress. They've added new ornaments to the tree on this, their second full-length release. Along with original main-stays Dylan Christy and Adam Pierce, the liners indicate they've added Tyler Pistilli and Scott McGovern to the fold, and man, it shows! The vibes, bass and drums are still there in all their glory, but added to the mix are coronet(and I believe I hear a trumpet as well), occasional non-obtrusive gtr., lightly strummed of course(it IS the Dylan Group, after all...), and female vox, to name just a few. Song #3, "Connection is The Key", is an all-out dub number, a la King Tubby. "Borderline, Baby..." and "And You Thought The Cowboy Always Won" are also stand-outs. Hell, ALL the tunes are superb, and invoke their own distinctive moods. My one gripe(and it's a small one) is the inclusion of a live version of "Sandcastles" on this LP. The song appeared on their debut, and was re-mixed a bunch on their "Re-Interpreted" LP, as well. It's an outstanding song, but they don't offer up much in the way of differences between this version and the original. If you're new to this band, however, you won't care, and that's a good thang! Pick this mutha up as soon as possible. If you like it(and I know you will), go buy everything on their label, Bubble Core Records. Word."
