I put it on at night before going to sleep and it doesn't seem to matter if I listen to it awake or asleep - it still works (helps with healthy eating, wanting to workout and feeling calmer overall). I looked into other programs on the internet and actually tried two others - this is still my favorite and such a value at less than ten dollars. After trying the weight loss CD and doing so well I also got the Sober Life cd for my dad and this has worked well for him too. I also found this CD is great for getting to sleep or falling back to sleep."
