"Fortunately I do not need to give you an idea of how Dozan sounds, as you can listen to samples directly. I think you will be surprised by how subtle, complex and harmonious these traditional sounds from Jordan are - especially if you were expecting flashy belly-dance soundtracks or something of that sort.
Dozan was founded by vocalist Shireen Abu-Khader. Her crystalline voice and the musicality of the whole band shine through this album. The first track, "Lamma Bada Yatathanna", instantly sweeps you off your feet with a seductive melody and elegant singing. The next, "Ya Jarati", is a beautiful duet, supple male and female voices playfully intertwined.
Dozan combines songs and instrumental tracks, with cello, oud, viola, and Middle Eastern percussion. If you enjoy genuine folk music from other traditions, you will fall in love with Dozan."
