The Double Agents crawled out from a under a rock in Melbourne's festering pub music scene at the start of the new century. 'It Seemed Like A Good Idea ... At the Time' is a work of extremes, complexity and contrast. On the first single lifted from the album, "Makin' Eyes", moments of dark garage blues play out against splashes of peyote-fuelled Stones country rock idealism. "You Got It All" fluctuates between garage rock brutality and moments of tranquil respite as Miss Kimmy's ravaged vocals interplay with Dave Butterworth and Ryan Tandy's guitar attack in a dialectic that walks the fine line between hope and despair.
