CD Reviews

Quality Trance
Jeff A. Sutton | Austin, TX United States | 01/14/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"How do you describe an album that combines elements of Psychadelic trance, downtempo ambient, and progressive trance music? If its coming from Doof (Nick Barber).. Quality. This album is simply amazing. I think Doof made a great move going to the more ambient style, this album is a complete contrast to his last album Lets Turn it On, much more ambient. Even though Doof is new to this style, he seems to know what he's doing here....To best some up this album, i have...friends that hate ambient music, that really like this album. Get this one now, you can't go wrong. No matter what genre of techno you like, its covered hear and covered well."
The perfect chill out album
Jeff A. Sutton | 11/08/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"this truly is the perfect chillout album (and one of the best electronica albums ive ever heard). it begins with almost straight goa, but imperceptibly shifts into psy-ambient, and by the end almost sounds like very beautiful dub. perfect to cool down after a party, or just listen to by yourself.
this rates with Shpongle as one of my favorites. Shpongle and Doof are cut from the same musical cloth, and simply took their goa roots in totally opposite, but equally amazing, directions. check this cd out."

"You cannot resist Doof - It's About Time. The songs lounge in a creepy groove and will not let you escape. Some might attempt to call the album boring, but words will fail; the whole album induces head nodding and foot tapping! It leaves little room for criticism or nay saying. You will want to relax as you listen, but will find the underlying tension demands your attention. It's About Time will commandeer your imagination and paint a new story every listen. The genre-benders want to call this trance or ambient or dub. It is none of these but borrows techniques from each. Safely call it good music and make it part of your collection. There are no weaknesses to this release."
