CD Reviews

One of the top 2 reggaeton albums of 2006

(4 out of 5 stars)

"I originally hated this album when I first heard it. Especially since i'd loved The Last Don.

But after about 6 months I really started to dig it and now I absolutely love it. It was a shock to the system when it came out but it's clear now this was one of only two really great reggaeton albums in 2006 (a really bad year for reggaeton and 2007 has been worse so far). The other great album of 2006 was Wisin y Yandel Presentan Los Vaqueros. Tito El Bambino's Top of The Line was pretty good too.

A tonne of hits came from this album - Angelito, Jangueo, Salio el Sol, Ayer La Vi, Cuentale... I think the sales tell the story... over 500000 and counting.

I'm going to deviate here... I've got a real problem with reggaeton artists at the moment because they are all in the habit at the moment of releasing an album and then releasing a special edition. I'm at the point now where I refuse to buy the original release knowing that more than likely a special edition will come out with a killer extra track or two that i want. Don Omar's King of Kings Armageddon had Ayer La Vi (one of his greatest ever tracks). Los Vaqueros Special Edition has Quiero Hacerte Amor and Por El Telefono, Los Vaqueros Wild Wild Remixes includes the great track La Pared (with Don Omar and Gadiel). Luckily I waited before buying both albums and so I have purchased special edition versions of Los Vaqueros and King of Kings. Same goes for Daddy Yankee's latest album... I'm just waiting to see if a special edition comes out before I hand over money. I know that on Itunes there are bonus tracks for Big Boss. These artists need to stop playing with their listening public. Everyone knows that the first few weeks sales are critical for albums nowadays to catch fire. So I guess i'm wondering how many other people are waiting for special editions and how many people by then have forgotten about the album and have moved on and so never pay money for the CD?! Thought i'd throw this out there."
Not bad at all

"I only know some of the songs, and previewed the album a few times, but what I've heard is good. It's not your standard, cookie cutter reggaeton with the same drums doing the same damn rhythm throughout the WHOLE album, which is a GREAT idea. Don Omar is probably the most unique "reggaeton" artists out there, and thank God he's around or the genre might be completely dead in the water....

OK and I needed to bring up the ratings for this album because of the retard who gave it 1 star because it's all in Spanish lol
