Phoenix-based sax man Dominic Amato displays his formidable chops on his debut release, and shows us why he's such an on-demand player in the "Valley of the Sun." Born into a family of musicians, Dominic picked up drumsticks at age two... then moved on to the sax (his dad's instrument). He's been inspired by the greats, like Miles, Coltrane, Sanborn, and Michael Brecker, and he's a protégé of none other than Eric Marienthal, so he's definitely been exposed to the right stuff. He's obviously learned his lessons well, already with an impressive resume, including extensive touring with the band Turning Point. Let's talk contents of this new CD, though.
