CD Reviews

One of the Greatest Performers America Never Knew About!!!
GSN Gamesters | Longview, WA USA | 07/01/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I was introduced to Domenic "Donnie" Troiano's music through Sonny Grosso & Larry Jacobson's TV series. Many aired here in the US on Late Night or cable. Domenic's theme and scores from "Night Heat" (featuring Roy Kenner's searing vocals) were catchy, suspensefull, and danceable. His themes and music from "Hot Shots", "Diamonds", "True Blue", "Counterstrike", "Top Cops", "Secret Service", and others were just as good.

It was during this time when I was looking for any soundtrack albums from these shows that I found an old album of his, "Burning at the Stake". From that point I became a huge fan. I tried to find as many albums, CDs, and any information about Domenic available (Thank goodness for the Internet).

This album, "Fret Fever", is one of only a handfull of solo releases from Canada's Rock 'n Blues Legend. All in a quite similar yet unique style. Beautiful music, great lyrics, gifted guitar work, and a bluesy singing voice. Some of my favorite songs, some of which were recycled on his TV soundtracks, include "We All Need Love" with Roy's Vocals, the title track, "South American Run", "Ambush", and my favorite: "My Brains are on the Floor". I hope they rerelease "Burning at the Stake", "The Joke's On Me", "Changing of the Guard" (Black Market), and the 12" record of the "Night Heat" theme as an EP CD as well

I only found out last year that he passed away from prostate cancer in 2005, and I was heartbroken. Fortunately, his music will continue to live on in one way or another, and I hope more Americans and other international music fans will discover this legendary artist and give his memory the fame and recognition he received in his home country of Canada when he was alive.

Domenic Troiano (1946-2005) You are sorofully missed!!!...At least by one American fan."
