Synopsis

Album Description
UK four CD box set, released to coincide with Dolly's 2008 UK tour. This deluxe collector's tour edition boxset contains 80 tracks including nine previously unavailable on CD and nine previously unavailable in the UK. The four discs are broken down into musical themes close to Dolly's heart: Love (Disc One), Covers (Disc Two), Mountain Memories (Disc Three) and Duets (Disc Four). More of a career overview than just a collection of hits, this set contains fan favorites rarities and a handful of hits including 'I Will Always Love You', 'Love Is Like A Butterfly', 'In The Good Old Days (When Times Were Bad)', 'My Tennessee Mountain Home', 'Islands In The Stream' and many more. BMG.

CD Reviews

A great collection for fans

(5 out of 5 stars)

""The Tour Collection" is a limited edition 4CD set to celebrate Dolly's current tour of Europe. What makes this one interesting is that there aren't a lot of hits on here. You won't find "9 to 5", "Here You Come Again", "Jolene" or any of the other hits that fill up most collections. Instead what you get are a ton of album cuts with a few hits thrown in here and there. The set is split into four discs, "Love", "Covers", "Mountain Memories" and "Duets". The Duets disc is the most interesting in that combines tracks that had guests singing with her and tracks in which she was the guest. As a result you get tracks that only appeared on the other artists albums.

What I like about this collection is that doesn't focus on the hits, it's got a bunch of obscure album cuts. The majority of the tracks come from Dolly's 1970's RCA output. But there are a few from her stay on Columbia in the early 90's. The most recent tracks come from the past couple of years with her duets with Martina McBride on "I Still Miss Someone" and Brad Paisley on "When I Get Where I'm Going".

A great set and one collectors will want and one that someone just getting into Dolly's music might want to check out as it explores a wide range of her output."
