"By 1986 I wore out my ALBUM "The Return Of The Wanderer." Finding it as a double CD with " Fire In The Night" made everything in my world of music alright once again! The track -Heart Of Saturday Night- is one of the best songs Dion has ever done. -Midtown American Main Street Gang- rocks,and- Brooklyn Doger/Streetheart Theme- is hauntingly beautiful. Five Stars is just not enough for this master piece!"

"return of the wanderer might be the best album dion made in the 1970's- it certainly illustrates both how well he covers material by other songwriters and how well he handles his own compositions.
i always look to see who the co-writers are on a dion tune, and sure enough, there are several songs from trusted "word man" bill tuohy as well as several excellent songs by dan beck.
the streetheart band is featured on both return of the wanderer and fire in the night, and it is a great backup band, with some excellent lead guitar work and solid bass.
return of the wanderer is an album that earns a 5 star rating, with songs like "brooklyn dodger" and "midtown american main street gang" leading the way. half the songs on this album were (correctly)included in dion's boxed set collection of greatest hits.
fire in the night is the lesser work, although the first two songs are stunning."we don't talk anymore" is a haunting song that immediately overpowers the listener. by itself , the album would get a 4 star rating. by matching it up with return of the wanderer on one cd, you get an extra dose of great music."
