CD ReviewsAnother great unknown... Sean | 02/06/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "Back in the day, I used to be big into thrash metal, y'know, Slayer and Megadeth and the like. After reading a death metal article in Live Wire magazine, I decided to "branch out", so to speak. One of the bands reviewed in the article was Desultory, this very album in fact.Probably not an easy album to track down, as these guys never became famous like Carcass or Emperor, this is one of them CDs you find and end up enjoying a lot. The music is well written and well played. The vocals aren't "clean", but they are intelligible and fit the music well. You wont find any "look at me show off for three minutes" guitar solos either, but there are enough melodic and strategically placed lead fills in a few of the songs to more than make up for the lack of a lot of lead guitar.Basically, I like this album. If you like At The Gates, In Flames, later Carcass, or the like, you probably will too."
