CD Reviews

This album rules if you like battle metal
Warrmageddon | garbageville, la | 01/10/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"the album starts off with a nice battle worthy intro that gets you fired up to sharpen your blade, adjust your breast plate, finish off your goatshorn full of mead and prepare for battle.

this band is though relatively unknown in the metal scene despite being on a major label...very epic and animated and put on one of the most entertaining live shows money can buy and there music is very viking/battle oriented ala amon amarth and ensiferum and turisas and countless other awesome bands...it's just that these guys have a more southern influence and they also incorporate keyboards which adds a whole different dimension to their sound.

i was very impressed with their first album and i think that this album is alot different from that one in that it's less epic and more...balls to the wall 90 mph power thrash and the drums are actually better in my opinion mainly because they recruited andrew core of with faith or flames to play drums who is a much faster version of their old drummer which is pretty refreshing. also, guitarist way barrier has such a slick guitar tone...it's very suiting of the music that these guys play and also the vocal hooks are very very EXTREMELY catchy and they utilize alot of gang vocals which is very cool to hear on a metal album.

my favorite track on this album has to be the battle sluts drinking song which you can tell was made in an intoxicated state and has some classic lyrics which merits a cackle no matter how many times you hear it.

all in all i think this album is pretty awesome and deserving of purchase if your into viking lore or really awesome progressive thrash/death metal...it is a bit cheesy also but it's more endearing than annoying"
