"Derek Martin is one of the most unrecognized soul singers in the history of r&b. I guess you can say he was a one hit wonder considering his only hit was "You Better Go". What made his presence so strong was his association with Teddy Randazzo who was one of the most prolific composer, arrangers of the 60's. Randazzo wrote and produced most of the songs on this cd compilation which is skillfully re-mastered from EMI masters. Randazzo did musically for Derek Martin what Burt Bacharach did for Dionne Warwick and Chuck Jackson where the end result here was only ONE hit. Most artists of the past are judged by how many hit records they had throughout their careers. This cd provides evidence that more great music gets lost in the shuffle than the often mediocre stuff that makes it to the top of the charts. Derek Martin is an unusual song stylist and a REAL Soul Man."
