Synopsis

Album Description
Denali takes their name from the Athapascan word for Alaska's Mount McKinley, The highest mountain in North America. The meaning they impart is fairly obvious - cold, remotely desolate, permanent - something that parallels the sound they forge. Since sharing the stage with bands such as The Faint, Pinback, Sparklehorse, Tristeza, Rainer Maria and The Lapse, the band caught the ears of Sparklehorse frontman Mark Linkous who has produced a couple songs. Jade Tree.

"

Music of a mostly emotionally cloying variety with an amateurish chordal instinct guiding the entire process, but during many swelling moments the vocalist is capable of cracking the most cynical of skulls."

"denali call their music "gentle rock"...but it's far from gentle. emotionally jarring but beautiful, the vocals are reminiscent of beth gibbons from portishead, but with a bit stronger high end....at one soft and loud, denali bridge a gap between trip-hop, ambient and indie rock, and bless 'em for it."
