CD Reviews

A dissappointment
Brooklyn Dave | 07/17/1999
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Although this CD has plenty of tracks on it, there aren't many good ones. These guys were pretty hard hitting, and awesome, on their first cd, especially if you have the original version of cd with 3 more songs on it, now missing due to a lawsuit, as some of my friends call it, gangster swing music. But this new cd they've released is a little more mellow and in my opinion doesn't live up to the gangster swing style they used to have. They've lost a few band members since the first CD, namely Johnny Paisani Ferrara whose great vocals are missing on this cd. 3 out of 5 stars sums it up as average, you may or may not like it if you're heard their first cd."
Awesome in your face Swing!!!!

"Every track of this CD kicks. Not for the weak hearted or musically challenged. This CD is a must for not only swing lovers but for anyone who is thirsting for some turbo charged original music. This CD delivers on all levels. There is no way of catagorizing these guys. Some may say gangsta swing and thats a fair analogy but this CD like the first (There goes the neighborhood ) is much much more. The musicianship and arrangement is superb and it comes across like a shot over da right field fence. From the first track "Goin the distance" where the adrenalin charge starts and rises right through to "Double Expresso" (swings answer to speed metal!) For "Kiss" fans theres a classic remake of Detroit Rock City" and it doesn't end there. Tunes like: "One Good Reason", "WifeBeata Boogie", "Slap ya' round" and "Hot Rod Vinny" are reason enough to buy this CD. Not to mention "Switchblade Mambo" which puts across the true versatility of this New York Big Band. This CD has something for everyone and like their live performance its A true in your face slammin experience!!!"
In Your Face Swing

"These bums are the freshest band on the East Coast scene. Their songs are original and hard driving and their live shows are legendary. They have attitude, they have a great tight sound, and this album is their best work yet. Ever since I first saw them set up on the Boardwalk at Coney Island's Mermaid Parade a couple of years back I've been hooked to the Boardwalk Boogie of the Bums."
