"There are no other available recordings of Leo Delibes opera's (other than the heaps of Lakme's) that exsist. While not quite up too Lakme standards or any of his ballet's, all three of these works are exceptional.

The first one 'Le Roi L'a dit' was recorded in 1958 but the sound quality is very good and the last two were recorded in the 70's so they're sound quality is even better. But to speak the truth I've never listened to a Musidisc 'Gaiete Lyrique' opera that wasn't a joy to listen to.'Le Roi...' also includes the dialogue but on seperate tracks. The last two are complete but they do not include the dialogue.

The only difficulty is finding it. But than the same is true of all the Gaiete Lyrique opera's. But if you're a french operetta connoisseur, a Delibes aficionado, or a fellow Gaiete Lyrique opera collector, it is well worth the hunt.

On a final note, there is supposedly one other musidisc Delibes opera out there, 'L'Ecossais de Chatou'. But in my 3 years of vigoursly completing the set I have never seen any evidence of its exsistence. If you know anything to the contrary or about the Gaiete Lyrique label, please feel free to contact me via Amazon.
