Search - Deckard Croix :: Portrait

The fifth album by eclectic songwriter, Portrait is a confusing yet blissfully genre free album (in that it encompasses elements of every genre). Much of the album was recorded live in the studio and it does sound a bit rough (what Croix release doesn't?), but what a wealth of creativity awaits! A bit more playful and Dylanesque in his choice of lyrics, this is Croix at his most cryptic and obscure (you sigh like Monty Clift, you cry like a miracle mile?) and yet you can't hate a guy who's so defiantly noncommercial and also quirkily original without being too disturbing. He's also, at times, too experimental and unfocused for his own good, so I guess you can't have everything.
