"I own most of Mallett's stuff, and this CD is the one I play the most. Every song here is enjoyable, and the set provides a nice retrospective of sorts, from the now-famous "Garden Song" to more recent, powerful cuts like "Closer to Truth." There are some real gems on here, like "Phil Brown," which demonstrates Mallett's great songwriting and guitar playing, and "I Picture You," a gorgeous paean to an old friend. You'll find yourself joining the sing-alongs on "My Old Man" and "Garden Song," and you'll be moved by the social conscience of "My Daddy's Oldsmobile" and "I Hate to See This Town Go Down." I just saw Mallett at the Kerrville Folk Festival (2001), and I was delighted that he played about 2/3 of the songs on this CD. They're tried and true, and you'll find yourself enjoying this again and again."
