Synopsis

Album Description
Angels' Playground is a 12-song collection of fresh solo piano music. It features a delightful mix of varying musical styles and contains 9 original pieces. David's style is reminiscent of George Winston's and is also influenced by the likes of Floyd Cramer, Jerry Lee Lewis and the Beatles. From the first track to the last, Angels' Playground grabs the listener and envelopes them in a diverse array of pleasing and melodic sound. The title track, angels' playground, was written when David was 16 and was the driving force behind his 2nd place finish in WJR's "Quest for Excellence" music talent contest.

CD Reviews

Aspiring the young and the young of heart

"Our family found Angels' Playground to be very uplifting. I was given the CD as a gift from my father after inquiring to what music he was playing on his computer and stating that I liked it. When I brought the CD home and played it, I expected to receive harsh reviews from my children who have been primarily exsposed to Rock-n-Roll. My 9 year old, who is my worst music critic and until now strickly Hard Rock Roll listener, stopped playing his Nintendo 64 and listen to whole CD to my amazement. During listen he exclaimed with a shy grin on his face "I like that! I want a tape for my tape player". You could see the twinkle in his eyes when he found out the history behind the music. Instantly you could feel the thought he had....that he too could make something with his life. Thank you so much, for opening doors and broadening my childrens horizons in such a postive manner!"
Angel's Playground is a rainbow of sound.

"As the name and title cut suggest, Angel's Playground is an inspired work, gently drawing the listener into its delicate rolling melodies while conjuring images of angels frolicing gleefully within the ether. It proves the power of the unseen in its depth and range. "A Mother's Love" is a gift that all mother's deserve and few ever receive. "Birth of a Galaxy" fills the senses with an appreciation of just how music can be used to effect each and every one of us. "Going Home" elicits that childlike emotion that makes us all wish we could go home again. "Au Revoir, My Friend" is that proverbial haunting melody that reminds us all of those friends long gone, and a yearning to relive times and relationships past. It may well be the stongest of the works David has created for this CD next to "Angel's Playground" itself. The weakest parts of the album are the tunes that David didn't create, though nice music and well-played they just don't measure up to strongly emotional character of the Berriman original's. If you are a feeling person with strong beliefs and stronger faith than "Angel's Playground" is a delicacy for the senses that you don't want to pass up."
Heartwarming music

"I purchased Dave Berriman's CD thinking that I would enjoy it, but didn't expect to LOVE it! The music is so beautiful that I got "lost" in it over and over with each piece and kept playing the music in my mind all day. My boys (ages 2 and 4) were both quiet (a first!) and my older son said, "I love this - play it every day". A listener can tell that Dave Berriman plays from the heart and really enjoys his music. I'm looking forward to more of Dave Berriman's CDs."
