"I waited so long for this cd to be released, hearing the songs played live time after time, that I was afraid it wouldn't live up to my expectations. Not to worry. Darcie Deaville is a great songwriter/singer/multi-instrumentalist whose recorded work literally burns with the same energy that is so evident in her live performances. The cd kicks right into high gear with 'Who needs you', followed by the less frenetic 'Catch the ball'. The first time I heard her play 'It's just the moon', the song was brand new -- she sang it solo, accompanied only by her fiddle, and it actually sent chills up my spine. 'Icy barrel of a loaded gun', although fictionalized, has just enough reality in it to absolutely break your heart, while instilling hope at the same time. Darcie's playing -- fiddle, guitar, mandolin, octave mandolin -- is first-rate throughout, as are the contributions of some of Austin's finest (notably Marvin Dykhuis, guitarist and producer extraordinaire). Everything combines to make this a strong, well-written and well-played effort. Check out the samples and become hooked!"
