Synopsis

Album Description
Edmonton, Alberta-based singer/songwriter Dahlia Wakefield has just released her full-length debut CD entitled "Close To Home" on her own independent label, Squirrelly Girl Music. It was recorded in Edmonton at Beta Sound Recorders Ltd. and Blackfoot South Music, and was produced by Greg Johnston and Lyle Molzan who also performed on the CD. The album "Close To Home" features catchy, radio-friendly pop rock material flavored with a hint of country. In possession of a supple voice capable of interesting complexity, Dahlia?s singing spans from angelic and sensitive to raunchy and gutsy. As well as this wonderfully seductive and smooth set of pipes, she also has an uncanny ability to capture an emotion, a mood, an essence, a sentiment, and put it to music without losing the clout of the meaning. Indie-Music.com states: "Dahlia Wakefield is a bit of Faith Hill on the high notes, a bit of Cher on the low notes, and a lot of sensuality through the whole CD." They also! go on to say: "Nashville denizens would swoon if they heard this music." It has been said that the AC acronym for Adult Contemporary really stands for Almost Country, and Dahlia?s genre blending and bending style between pop, rock and country is a testimony to that theory. Dahlia?s writing is strong, and the melodies are fabulous. She keeps her adult lyrics straightforward, honest, and appropriate to her music; they are introspective, well written and rise to the level of poetry. Chock-full of strong songs that hit ?close to home?, her contagious melodies are bound to stick in your head and keep you humming all day. To Dahlia?s songwriting credit, she recently placed as a finalist in three international songwriting competitions, has received full-rotation radio play with her first single "Die For You", and has landed on five compilation CDs. With her new CD just released and several accolades at her feet, Dahlia Wakefield is a rising star sure to shine bright and long.
