CD Reviews

Dnb at its finest

"this is by far the best dj dara mix cd...if you caught dj dara in the planet of the drums tour, this is exactly what you would expect after that tour...you can tell that dara has played next to deiselboy, due to dara's track selection (which he has always had a good selection of these..) also, by the speed of the tunes...dara actually speeds up his records a bit on this one, which really gives it the pace and vibe needed for these selected tracks...i'm a dj as well, and all of these tracks are the latest tracks coming out of the uk at the moment...dara gets busy w/ smooth mixes, and inticate chopps w/ tunes...he lets the mix take on its own form, by placing the tracks in a neatly arranged order...each track compliments the other, leaving this mix cd to build on itself, w/ out getting boring....if you have heard any of the other mix cd's that dara has put out, this is the one to get....you can also check out dara live in the archives section at groovetech.com....which is an acurrate example of his mixing style, and forte....end note: BUY THIS ALBUM, YOU WON'T REGRET IT...."
"Perfect" is definitely the right word!

"DJ Dara is back with his long-awaited follow-up to his last masterpiece of jungle/drum n bass sounds "From Here To There", and Dara has truly outdone himself. With "Future Perfect", Dara has created a brilliant assembly of several different drum n bass styles, and blended them together to create a dance music collection that surpasses all expectations. The album begins with "Blue Rose" from Teebee, a nice mellow track that lulls the listener into a false sense of security, but still has a hard-hitting bassline that gets you moving from the start. Dara then blasts into "Defender!" from Nico and Rukkus with a seamless mix that forces the listener to watch the track counter to see when in fact the track actually changed. "Defender!" has a jungle beat mixed with some technical sound effects that make you feel as if you've been transported into the video game of the same title. This track eventually leads into one of the most wicked tracks ever laid down on a mix CD, "Bleach" by Universal Project. This track will slap you silly and make you forget your name. With a driving techstep beat and stunningly deep and dark overtones, it is an unforgettable track. Rolling basslines dominate "Dust" by DL, and female vocals and a fierce techstep beat define "Need You". The track "Specialist" by Future Cut is a bit of a downer, since I've heard it on 2 other mix CD's, but it is still a strong track. "Hard 39" by Decoder is a gut-wrenchingly hard track that feels like a sledgehammer to the forehead. It is the perfect lead in to "Altitude" which can best be described as complete chaos. A wild track in every way, this would make the Golden Girls break it down at the drop of a hat.The second half of the album is a bit less dark than the first half, but still has several highlights, including "Kali Kurse" by Ink and Dylan, which contains a wicked-sounding sample that pervades the track. The album ends on the mellow note with which it began, with "(Slip and Slide) Suicide" by Kosheen. Quite simply, this is the drum n bass album of the year. If you are a drum n bass fanatic, you most certainly should have this already. If you are new to the genre, this is an excellent place to start."
Dara rocks

"This is the first cd that inroduced me to dj dara. It kicks really hard and the bass drops like no other. It is great to listen to when you just want to sit back and go into a daze. I thought the vocal samples were pretty decent (check out the last song, suicide) and overall a pretty good cd to check out"
