Synopsis

Product Description
In an explosive announcement reflecting musical upheavals fueled by decades of electro-pelvic gyrations, Delicious Vinyl proudly proclaims the imminent release of a special single by L.A.'s revolutionary producer/remixer, Bobby Evans. Available September 9th on CD and 12-inch vinyl, "Freak-A-Zoid Robotz" is not only the lead track and theme song from Delicious Vinyl's lauded RMXXOLOGY album, it's the first single release to be solely credited to Bobby Evans, best known as the DJ half of L.A.'s Hip Hop duo Brother Reade. As the gaggle of AutoTune-, Vocoder-, and Talkbox-assisted voices reaches a fevered pitch in pop music today, Bobby Evans has leapt into the fray to bring the sexy robot thang back to where it belongs. "Freak-A-Zoid Robotz" sports whip-it-good drums, ass-clapping bass, and synapse-snapping synthesizers... and an android voice giving props to the pioneers of Miami Bass music. Bobby Evans explains, "While making 'Freak-A-Zoid Robotz' I was taking in a steady diet of bass and early Electro, Afrika Bambaataa, Gucci Crew II, Maggotron, DJ Smurf, and a lot of the artists who wound up getting name-checked on my song. Even the SP-12, TR-808, and TR- 909 are mentioned on the chorus. Those machines were the foundation of the music so I knew I had to work them in. Musically 'Freak-A-Zoid Robotz' is steeped in Bass references, the drums are 808s, there's arpeggiated synths, and of course the Vocoder! Also everything in the mix was touched by the same classic reverb that Prince used on 'When Doves Cry'." "Freak-A-Zoid Robotz" is inspired by a truly obscure cut from deep in the DV catalog, an electro-bass number called "The Fine Line Between Hyper And Stupid" that appeared on the B-side of Tone-Loc s 1990 single "I Got It Going On", although Tone did not rap on the track. Acknowleding this direct link, Bobby Evans says, "It's rad to be working with Delicious Vinyl, they have such a deep history but are still really open to new ideas and perspectives." The single release is bolstered by instrumental and accapella versions of "Freak-A-Zoid Robotz" as well two other blistering cuts: Mr. Vegas "Hot Wuk" (Bobby Evans RMX) and Tone Loc & Peaches "Wild Thing" (Bobby Evans Minimal Edit). Featuring new artwork by Alison Childs perfect for your bedroom wall.
