CD Reviews

Soft is right...

"I've been following D.A.D. for several years now. Their breakthrough album got my attention ("No Fuel..") and I've bought everything else I can find of theirs since. I've liked all of them in varying degrees, but am always impressed with their abiilty to rock and craft a good song. Until this one.

This may be appealing to somebody, but not to anyone that likes D.A.D.

I can't even listen to it all the way through.

The title track is listenable but disappointing. It only goes downhill from there.

Hopefully, they heard many voices like mine and 'Scare Yourself' is a different story...dunno, since Amazon doesn't have it yet (only the single). I will hope that D.A.D. returns with a vengeance. Til then, I will crank up their earlier efforts and let this one collect dust... until I sell its worthless carcass on ebay."

"Luckly I'm not used to listen to the various "metal pete" that I find on my way, otherwise probably I wouldn't have this gem at this point. This is not an average DAD album, it is one of their best! I own them all and I can say this is just gorgeous. Don't know what pete listened to ... maybe another cd that he put in the wrong jewel box. This is absolutly DAD from the beginning to the end and every song shines. The opener is just an excellent song and from there begins a very solid danish metal album in the vague we are accustomed from the very talented danish band. It is metal with nice melodic hooks and it is really entertaining. It's a little more melodic in a sense (but DAD always had a nice melodic taste in their best moments) this is not a reason to put down this album. Soft dogs deserves four stars for sure, but to compensate the ridicolous rating expressed down here, I'll rate it five stars. By the way it's not really that far from the DAD masterpieces in my opinion. It's only a lttle darker ain some points and a couple of songs are filler for sure, but generally speaking is a good album. As I told you, the opener is fantastic, Golden way a wonderful "ballad", The truth about you is another melodic rock anthem, What's the matter a typical DAD song, medium tempo, So what is a tune with an unusual mood, medium tempo, Between you and me is again a very melodic rock song and so on. Probably it is simply more melodic and a little bit slower and less aggressive than some other album from the band. The last DAD album is harder this is for sure, but this doesn't mean automatically better. You choose, I love these soft dogs songs. Danish guys will surely understand the title for this review."
