Synopsis

Album Description
Guitarist Curtis Reid performs his original progressive instrumental compositions! The vintage/modern guitar tones mustered here sets the cruise control to full on, and drives this new and upcoming artist's 1st solo CD! While the overdriving rockers (KINGSPORT / THE DARK PAGE) take the road with their turns and corners , Curtis also downshifts into symphonic territory(AUGUST 8) and a very vivid acoustic avenue (THE DYING TREE). Musicians: Dan Tomlinson - Drums (ACOUSTIC ALCHEMY/LYLE LOVETT) Mario Mendivil - Bass (FOUR TOPS/NELSON RANGELL)

CD Reviews

Excellences Prevails!

"Who is Curtis Reid? Well.... I thought at first but after receiving my copy of this cd, simply put, He is a great guitarist! For the sake of marketing and other cliché we can call him a rock guitarist, but Curtis is much more than that. Curtis has captured what I feel is an original tasteful approach to his compositions, which is getting rarer these days. Seeing that Curtis wrote, produced, and simply gives an out pour of 110% raw pure emotions I would give this cd a 6 star rating... And tone... What can I say, other than no guitar-amp modeling here.. His arsenal of what I call real Musical tools is awesome. I didn't know a real Marshall JTM-45 sounded this good. As good as Curtis gets on this cd. It could be the 68 super lead? Without a doubt, "lot 49" is my first choice of all the songs... I love this song. After I heard the whole cd, I played this song in particular two more times in a row... Lisa, my wife just looked at me.. that's o.k... she understands musicians. And when I heard "aftershock", I just started laughing... not at the song, but because I think Curtis is the first to do a Steve Morse song, other than Steve Morse on a cd. As far as classifying Curtis as only a Rock Guitarist, you would be wrong, listen to the song "august 8". He shows more dynamics as a great composition writer... If one could take Allan Holdsworth and Jeff Beck, scramble them together, you would have a song like "thursday red". I just hope Curtis continues with his musical career... And when in Arizona... get a chance to hear him play. I can only imagine him out of the restraints of the studio... A job well done... Thank You Curtis... Keep doing what it is your doing, because apparently it's Right!"
Outstanding instrumental guitar rock

"It is a pleasure to review the Curtis Reid CD. I have listened to it around a dozen times, and it gets better each time. Although this is an instrumental rock guitar CD (I should note that I have played rock guitar for over 30 years), it does not rely on the same cliches those of us that follow this kind of music hear so often. He displays a unique style that, not suprisingly, hints at other great guitarists with considerable notoriety, like Eric Johnson and Steve Morse, and he even does a Steve Morse cover. This song is an excellent choice since it is not one that I would expect to hear. But it is important to note that Reid does not imitate other guitarists or play similar music. His approach is unique, with many of the songs on the CD having different feels/styles, while maintaining a coherency to the CD. The more I hear the CD, the more intersting it is, and the more I like it, which for me is the sign of high quality music."
Excellent instrumental rock!

"An excellent instrumental rock cd. I took lessons from Curt and know that he is one of the few guitar players that also knows music theory very well which shows in his unique and excellent playing. "Terrise" is probably my favorite."
