Synopsis

Album Description
2009 digitally remastered reissue of this album from the Country great, joined by the four-piece harmony outfit The Kimberlys. Between his traditional Nashville roots and his latter outsider partnership with Willie Nelson, Waylon, at the end of the '60s, mixed Country, Folk and Pop styles to produce a handful of remarkable albums. This partnership with The Kimberlys from 1969 is a buried treasure. With added strings and arrangements from Bergen White it includes great versions of Joe South's The 'Games People Play' and the gothic Jimmy Webb classic 'MacArthur Park'. 11 tracks. Righteous.

CD Reviews

An Awesome Bit Of History
Alan Johnston | West Virginia | 04/15/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I had this album on LP back when it first came out. If you are a Waylon fan you can never go wrong with a Waylon album. I am just glad to see this one reissued after all these years. This album is just a testimony to how far ahead of his time Waylon always was."
My fav version of Macarthur Park

"I heard the duet version of Macarthur Park when it came out in 1969 or so and it was one of my favorite songs. I've tried to find it for years, but it was never on any of Waylon's albums and I had given up on finding it. Then I ran into this release with the Kimberlys and wow, there it was. It's still my fav version, even after all these years. Several other songs are also very good."
