Uncle Funky Indeed!
Anthony Accordino | Massapequa Park, New York United States | 01/26/2003
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Cornell Dupree with over 2500 credits to his name is without question one of the greatest R&B guitarists who ever lived. If you were a fan of the 70's and 80's super session group Stuff[which cornell was a member], then you are going to treasure this offering from Cornell Dupree. Recorded live at the Lonestar in New York, this is no holds barred Jazz/Rock at its best. The band rips into such numbers as "Duck "Soup", "Forty Ounces Of Milk" and the absolute highlight is a very stuff like take on "Signed Sealed Delivered". The late Richard Tee is on hand, anchoring a devastating rhythm section with his heavy handed gospel driving piano. Drummer Eric Parker does his best Steve Gadd imitation during his Drum/piano solo with Tee. Will Lee on bass, Steve Greenfield on sax and of course Cornell Dupree on guitar deliver a splendid performance that should be heard by everyone who needs a dose of funk."

"This is a good CD, I've listened it on the van going for a gig and was a good inspiration! In fact it's a jam with a great feeling, bass and drums are strong enought for supporting the great Richard Tee (this was one of his latest shows)and my fave guitar player Cornell Dupree (he was the soloist on the great Donny Hathaway's Live record, among others...). Buy it, you will not regret. from Italy with peace and love!"
