CD Reviews

Beautiful, soulful, thoughtful

"I received "Parce qu'on vient de loin" for Christmas and fell in love with Corneille's voice and musical style. I couldn't wait to purchase Les Marchands de Reves and have not been disappointed. As a native English speaker who speaks some French, it often takes me a little time to fully appreciate what Corneille is saying. However, I am able to understand the music immediately - and it is amazing! The lyrics are thoughtful and heart-felt, and even non-French speakers can appreciate the emotion in the songs. I recommend this CD for anyone - French or English-speaking. I'm in my forties and love it...I have two teenagers who are non-French speakers who also love it. It is simply good music!"

"As soon as I heard Corneille released a second CD, I purchased it directly from France and spent more on the shipping than the CD. It was worth it. His vocals are beautiful and soothing. And if you understand French, it just doesn't get any better. The subjects cover a range of topics, from politics, to reaching your dreams, to remembering those who have passed on and look down on us, to religion and love. My sister doesn't understand a lick of French and she enjoyed the CD more than I did. I highly recommend this as well as his previous CD."
