CD Reviews

"Classic Philly Hip-Hop!"
"Old Skool" Ran-Dee | "Da' Bronx" | 09/05/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"In 1987 I heard a 3XD track called "Crushin' n' Bustin'(orig. version)" with an unknown MC at the time called "COOL-C". I remember the ill verse; "Cool-C, I'm not here to play/ I'm just here wit' something to say..." and was bugging out with his ill flow. Cool sounded like Philly's version of MC Shan. But Cool-C was at the time on the come up. Representing Philly's "Hill Top Hustlers". In 1989, Cool-C dropped his Steady-B produced and classic debut. The beats and lyrics on this CD are incredible! The biggest single on this CD was the radio friendly "GLAMOROUS LIFE". But every thing else on this CD is strictly hard-core Hip-Hop! Unfortunately, Cool-C is currently awaiting execution in the state of Pa. for the murder of a female Police Officer in a bank robbery turned sour. Steaby B and their manager LG were accomplices as well, but settled for life sentences and turned states evidence against Cool-C. This CD marks the good ol' days of the "Hill Top Hustlers" and the great Hip-Hop they put out in the mid/late 80's. A must have! One of Philly's best!"
