CD Reviews

Absolutely incredible

"I bought this prerelease at a Conshafter show recently, and I am surprised to say that it's one of the best albums I've ever bought. Seriously, I would recommend this to anyone who likes rock music of any kind, except maybe the rap-metal or Creedish garbage that seems to dominate radio right now. Sometimes it's punk, sometimes its retro, sometimes it's kinda heavy, sometimes it's pretty, sometimes its really futuristic, etc. It's hard to compare them to any one band because each song sounds so different....around Virginia (where they're from) they seem to get a lot of Weezer and Brand New comparisons live but I don't really hear that on the CD as much...to me they sound sometimes like classic bands like the Cars, the Beatles, they Ramone, etc, but with a really unique twist. This is the CD of a talented, creative band that doesn't' just copy other band's sounds.Highlights:
Track #1, Sleep When I'm Dead: really poppy and catchy, great way to start album, sounds kinda like the Cars but better
Track #2, The Last Day in the Life of a Rocket Scientist: Rocks really hard, insane lyrics about hookers and physics students, awesome!
Track #4: Springville: the most emotional and interesting song on the CD, beautiful guitar and backup harmony vocals, sounds like what the Beatles would sound like if they were around today
Track #7, Autopilot: totally different, electronic w/ drum machines...haunting and beautiful
Track #11, Joey Ramone: sounds like Ramones or Clash, classic punk (not pop-punk)...a great summertime driving song, makes you glad to be aliveThese are my faves but really every song on the CD is great. Oh, and if you get a chance to see Conshafter live, do it...they are insane and way crazier live than you'd expect."
