Perfect Match of Repertoire, Orch, and Conductor
(5 out of 5 stars)
"Koussevitzky's 78 rpm recordings of Debussy and Ravel were the first choice during their era of the thirties and forties. There is more passion and intensity, and more precision of approach to dynamic contours, than under his successor Charles Munch (an interesting, energetic, and inspiring conductor nonetheless, but one who could not extract the last degree of polish from the ensemble.) Mark Obert-Thorn's transfers from the 78s are done effectively and maximize one's pleasure in listening to these classic performances."
