"This live performance demonstrates that the best musicians do not need to spend months in the studio to produce a masterpiece. This was part of one evening at Berkeley's Maybeck Recital Hall where Alan and Gary played an exquisite performance. The songs were written by a variety of songwriters, including Alan, Cole Porter, Charlie Parker, and the incomparable Tadd Dameron. Every time I listen to this recording I hear something new. It is so rare to hear two musicians work with each other with such sensitivity. If I could keep only one recording from my collection, this would be it."
