Bella Musica

"I was always "una amante di musica", especially musica classica, but books and TV were mostly my source of edutainment. I was actually forbidden by my Godfather to listen to it in the house. He said that it was for crazy people. So, I don't know much about opera, arias, oratorio, operettas nor cantors, but I do know what I like. I bought this CD, quite honestly, because I didn't have much to spend and I associate Caruso with tasteful classical music. When he was alive, my grandfather had met Caruso in the "Teatro Campamor" a company in Camaguey in the 1920's or so. I was really surprised. I really enjoyed Verdi's compositions. "Your Eyes Have Told Me What I Did Not Know" was amazing. What I loved about this CD is that it includes "El Milagro de la Virgen, zarzuela Flores purisimas." The recordings are fairly old and it sounds like your listening to a LP record, but that's part of its charm. It's a treat to hear "Don Juan's Serenade," composed by Pyotr Il'yich Tchaikovsky. Could it be based on Spanish Literario y poeta Jose Zorrilla's Don Juan Tenorio, of the 19th century? I mean. . . just the historical value alone is a good enough reason to own this volumn."
