CD ReviewsNeed some solid industrial like 242? Cobalt 60 is it! Sean P. McDonough | Cincinnati, OH, USA | 09/29/1998 (4 out of 5 stars) "Much like Front 242, Cobalt 60 captures the essence of industrial music with its driving beats, it's hardcore samples, and its pure power. I've been a 242 fan for quite a while, and I have to give Jean Luc De Meyer credit -- he carries "the tune" with him. Teaming up with Dominique Lallement was a good move. Most of the tunes on this disc are reminiscent of some of 242s more upbeat, quick tunes. If you enjoyed "Moldavia," "WYHIWYG," and "Headhunter," you'll probably like the album "Elemental." Think of those tones with richer "support," and you've got the right idea!" Neural feast Sean P. McDonough | 06/02/1999 (4 out of 5 stars) "Bone chilling, spine tingling, neuron bashing, consciousness raising sounds that we have grown to expect from Industrial pioneer/ innovator Jean Luc De Meyer. He seems to have more of an influence here than in other projects - this translates to interesting lyrics and a fuller sound. The proverbial question of, " Why are some of the best bands so commercially underrated?" is unfortunately not answered with this disc. Perhaps it's just America's leaning toward cheesey pop such as The Spice Girls and Mariah Carey. If you enjoy music truly on the cutting edge and revel in exploring the human condition, in all its gods and monsters, then Cobalt 60 is unequivocally a safe bet. Endorphin junkies hold on tight!"
